Our Mission
ensemble vim is dedicated to bringing thoughtful, innovative programs to audiences in our home city of Atlanta. Our mission is based on three key pillars:
Excellence in the performance of new music
We are excited to feature compositions by living composers, exploring and expanding Atlanta’s contemporary classical music scene. With a core membership including musicians who perform regularly with the Symphony, Opera, and other leading arts organizations in Atlanta, we take pride in offering high quality, representative performances of these important works.
Collaboration with local composers and artists
ensemble vim aims to bring public awareness to the South’s rich cultural landscape, focusing on narratives that have been historically overlooked in the hopes of creating an environment of artistic unity and diversity. Each year, we support the creation of new works through our composer fellowship program, and our programs not only highlight the work of local composers but also local artists, with multidisciplinary, collaborative performances that elevate the concert experience as we know it.
Community outreach and education
Our reach extends beyond that of a typical performing ensemble, with initiatives that include educational outreach programs for young musicians. vim aims to build a stronger foundation for new music in Atlanta, and there is no better way to do so than working with students in our community. We offer free outreach performances to youth centers in Atlanta.
